Reviews about Sew Much More
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆July 03, 2019, by Joshua NeptuneWe purchased a Baby Lock Sofia 2 from Bonnie in April of 2016. We brought it in to be serviced almost 3 months later because the machine stopped working correctly. They don’t have a technician on-staff so they’re servicing windows are limited. Keep this in mind if you’re in the middle of a project and need a quick response to any issues that may arise with your machine. The first technician said that the issue was with the sewing needle alignment, which seemed odd on a brand new machine. But they “fixed” it and we picked it up. My wife was barely able to use the machine a few more times before it started to break thread again and bind-up, so we took it back a few weeks later. The shop owner, Bonnie, “diagnosed” that we were using singer needles, which are only compatible with singer machines. This may be true, but why didn’t the first “technician” see this when he was supplied him with everything we were using (fabric, stabilizer, needles etc.). So we changed the needles and then set the machine down for several months due to limited hobby time. When my wife started to use it to finish some Christmas, the machine once again failed. Bonnie first insinuated that it was user error, until we brought her the machine and she realized that it needed further adjustment. So we left the machine with her for another week while she arranged for a technician to look at it. Once again, this isn’t a quick process and they don’t offer loaner machines like our new shop. The technician supposedly adjusted the bobbin thread tension, which should fix the problem. At this point, we didn’t trust the machine or the technicians. Luckily, the Baby Lock representative was at the shop and they agreed to look at the machine at headquarters. So, Bonnie sent the machine to Baby Lock which took a couple weeks so I doubt she mailed it quickly. When my new shop received the machine and the report, Baby Lock said it was once again out of alignment. This is now the third “adjustment” that someone has done to that machine. I’m inclined to believe the first two “technicians” treated symptoms rather than the problem, and that they may have made the problem worse. But I can’t prove that. So our new shop, gave us almost full credit of the machine to a new purchase, something Bonnie was unwilling to do. The employees at Sew Much More are quite nice, but Bonnie is very dismissive, and is more concerned with making money than establishing long lasting customers. Their shop policies reflect that. Although this shop maybe conveniently located, I would highly recommend shopping around at other shops before making any large purchases here. Ask questions like “What is your ability to service the machine I’m buying?” There are a few shops that have a qualified service technician on-site most days. Also ask “Do you have a trade-in policy if the machine isn’t the right one for me?” There are several shops that will let you trade in your machine within the first year for full credit towards a new purchase. Ask these questions and draw your own conclusions, but we will never shop here again and I would certainly never let them service a machine.
